Matthew Robinson: Early Years and Ivydrive

Matthew Robinson spent much of the early 2000s writing and performing music, based in Granby, Connecticut. During this time, he was involved in several local punk and indie bands, primarily focusing on songwriting and singing.

In 2007, under the name Ivydrive, Matt self-released his debut album, One Day This Will All Come Back to You. The album featured a variety of sounds and was notable for its inclusion of the song "Ocean," which was featured on one of the first compilations from Top Shelf Records.

Electronic Indie Pop Project

Before pursuing graduate school, Matt worked on an electronic indie pop album titled Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet (2008). The project reached its demo stage but was put on hold due to lack of funding and access to the necessary recording equipment. Matt then shifted his focus to painting and earned his MFA in Brooklyn. Over the next decade, he worked in public education while continuing to develop his creative pursuits.

Return to Music: New Beginnings

After settling down and resuming his painting, Matt invested in his first new computer capable of supporting music production. This allowed him to return to recording, leading to the creation of his first EP and a series of unreleased demos. These recordings represented a culmination of everything Matt had learned over the years, created in a concentrated burst of inspiration.

IDIOTA a Collaboration with Mike Rasimas

Matt met Mike Rasimas in Beacon, NY, and the two bonded over a shared love for music. Together, they began refining their sound. Mike, who studied composition and has a prolific portfolio as a songwriter, musician, and teacher, became an integral part of Matt's musical journey.

Mike is also known for his band M. Roosevelt, with 21 releases on his Bandcamp account. In addition, he co-wrote the song "Ego" with Mitski Miyawaki, which helped solidify his presence in the indie music scene.

IDIOTA: We are currently in process of building the band of friends and and preparing for live performances. We are working on new material for their next EP, which we plan to release in batches, aligning with the way the internet has conditioned listeners to consume music today.
